Student Loan Origination Representative

Summary of Work

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-driven Student Loan Origination Representative to support the student loan origination process. This role ensures adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Lending requirements and Bank of North Dakota guidelines while managing application progression, processing documentation, reconciling reports and configuring disbursements.

This role provides personalized repayment guidance to borrowers, helping them navigate their financial obligations. Additionally, they will serve as a key resource for financial aid representatives, fostering strong relationships and offering dedicated support. Internal collaboration will be essential, as they work with team members to enhance efficiency and communicate system nuances effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a high school diploma or a GED and two years of work experience performing customer service activities and administrative duties related to loan origination. College-level coursework in accounting, business administration, banking or finance may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis. Direct years of student loan experience may carry more weight than indirect banking experience.

The applicant will be expected to support the entire student loan staff during core business hours. A schedule of Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. is expected, along with necessary in-office presence to provide customer support at Bank of North Dakota’s physical location. Due to the in-office presence requirement, the ideal candidate should reside in the Bismarck or Mandan surrounding area.
