Summary of Work
As the Special Assets Officer II, you will manage a complex portfolio of criticized, non-performing, and high-risk agricultural and commercial credit relationships. This senior-level role is responsible for developing workout strategies that minimize losses, maximize recoveries, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal loan policy.
In this role, you will independently manage complex agricultural and commercial workout situations involving farm operations, agribusinesses, commercial enterprises, and commercial real estate relationships. You will evaluate borrower viability, analyze financial performance and collateral positions, and develop strategies that may include restructures, repayment plans, settlements, or liquidation actions.
You will perform detailed financial and collateral analysis using borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flow analysis, and appraisals while preparing credit memorandums, impairment analyses, risk rating recommendations, and workout strategies for leadership and Credit Committee review. You will also coordinate with legal counsel on foreclosure actions, bankruptcies, settlements, and other recovery efforts while overseeing collateral liquidation and management of OREO and OPP assets.
As a senior member of the Special Assets team, you will serve as a technical resource to colleagues and lending staff, assist with the transition of problem credits, and support proactive risk management efforts. This position also serves as the primary backup to the Problem Loan Specialist for key reporting and CECL-related responsibilities.
To be successful in this position, you will be a highly analytical and strategic banking professional with strong experience managing complex agricultural and commercial credit relationships. You will demonstrate sound judgment, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently in sensitive and challenging situations. Your ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across teams, and develop practical workout solutions will contribute to the continued strength and stability of BND’s loan portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, agricultural economics, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of overall banking experience, which may include commercial or agricultural credit analysis, business banking, or related experience.
