Effective January 1, 2018, Bank of North Dakota (BND) sold and transferred its Federal Student Loan portfolio to North Texas Higher Education Authority, Inc. (NTHEA).  This transfer of ownership did not change your interest rate, payment due date or payment amount, unless required based on your enrollment in an Income-Based, Income Sensitive, or Graduated Repayment Plan.

Your Federal Student loan(s) are now serviced by NTHEA’s in-house servicing organization, Higher Education Servicing Corporation (HESC), which provides customer service, billing, and collection activities on behalf of NTHEA. All future correspondence and billing statements will be sent to you from HESC.

Note: BND continues to own, offer and service our state-sponsored DEAL Student Loans.

What you need to know about your payments
  • Automatic payments

If you were enrolled in automatic payments through BND, you must complete HESC’s Auto Debit enrollment form to continue to have your payments automatically deducted from your checking/savings account and to continue to receive any interest rate reduction benefit you may have obtained through BND. You may either complete HESC’s Auto Debit enrollment form by accessing your online account at www.hescloans.com or by downloading the enrollment form and submitting it by mail to HESC, 4381 W Green Oaks Blvd, Suite 200, Arlington, TX 76016. If you do not complete HESC’s Auto Debit enrollment form by July 1, 2018, you will be removed from making automatic payments and any interest rate reduction you may have received from BND will be terminated. If you lose your interest rate reduction because you did not submit updated Auto Debit enrollment information to HESC by the specified date, you may regain eligibility by submitting the required Auto Debit enrollment form. Any period of lost benefit will not be retroactively covered if you sign up after the specified date.
