Bank of North Dakota is committed to helping residents make smart financial decisions. In fact, we believe the need for education is so critical that we’ve dedicated a full-time employee to the effort. Lance Hill has participated in financial literacy efforts for the Bank for more than 10 years. The most popular presentations include:
- Credit 101 discusses the basics of credit, credit scores, establishing and maintaining good credit, credit cards and managing credit challenges.
- Money & Debt Management covers budgeting, common items to include on a person’s budget which he adjusts depending on the audience, overcoming debt issues and overspending. For college students, Lance adds a section on decisions that have the greatest impact on student debt and reducing college expenses.
- Personal Finance Fundamentals highlights the 3 M’s of budgeting–mindset, money and management. The use of credit and debit cards, using credit wisely, planning for your financial future and identify theft are important items he highlights with this presentation.
This is what people are saying about the presentations:
DeAnn Kerzman, the LAUNCH coordinator for the Grand Forks Housing Authority, shares, “Lance has presented at our financial workshops for low-income people. He is well-prepared and makes difficult material easy to understand with his presentation style and personal antidotes.”
Martha (Moe) Holte, Community Action Partnership of ND program coordinator, shared this feedback from attendees: “Usually when I hear that I will be attending a ‘financial’ presentation, I cringe. Not because of the subject, but because of the presenter. However, Lance was engaging and had a great sense of humor. I think it’s always good to keep up with the latest suggestions and brush up on routine things so we can help our clients. This presentation was fun and thought provoking and Lance kept everyone engaged.”
