It was 1919. Farmers who were angry with being treated unfairly by financial institutions in Minneapolis and Chicago joined with legislators to create Bank of North Dakota (BND). Other states had tried the concept and failed, so North Dakota added a unique provision: BND would partner with local financial institutions and not compete with them.
It has been a foundation for success. Today, as the banking industry enters an evolutionary period, BND seeks to lead Fintech efforts for North Dakota’s financial institutions to help them expand beyond the state’s borders. Soon, these efforts will invite financial institutions from outside North Dakota to join.
BND’s vision statement is: “BND is an agile partner that creates financial solutions to current and emerging economic needs.”
Fintech is the next frontier. We are committed to actively and aggressively pursuing Fintech opportunities to benefit North Dakota and others who choose to partner with us.
