As you have likely heard, Industrial Commission member and Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem passed away Friday. Wayne’s connections to BND run deeply. His dad, Martin, started the federal student loan program at Bank of North Dakota. Over the years, he would speak fondly of this connection and was a strong supporter of the Bank and its mission.
President and CEO Todd Steinwand shares this sentiment, “Wayne was a member of the Industrial Commission for 21 years and knew BND very well. He was especially fond of our student loan area since his dad managed that area in the mid-60s. He always provided wise counsel and had a quick wit and genuine smile. Wayne was a true statesman. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Beth, son Andrew and the entire Stenehjem family.”
Bank of North Dakota held a 100th anniversary celebration on July 29, 2019. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem shared these sentiments during the event.
