If you are unable to make your payment, please contact us. We don’t want you to risk damaging your credit report because you missed a payment. There may be options available to assist you with repaying your loans. Click on the link which best describes your situation. If you are enrolled at least half time, you may be eligible for an in-school deferment. Complete and submit this form to BND.
If you are enrolled less than half-time, you must begin repaying your student loans as soon as your grace period is complete. Smart Money Tip
If you are working in an internship/residency program, you may be eligible for deferment. Complete and submit this form to BND.
If you are in a graduate fellowship program, you may be eligible for deferment. Complete and submit this form to BND.
If you are experiencing financial hardship contact us, temporary options may be available to help you.
If you are unable to make your regular monthly payment, you may contact us to request your monthly payment be temporarily reduced. Payments go toward the accrued interest with a lesser amount going toward the principal balance. This may cause you to pay more over the life of the loan.

If you are:
- An active duty service member, provide a copy of your current active duty orders or return the completed Military Deferment Request form to BND.
- An active duty National Guard member for more than 30 days, provide a copy of your current active duty orders or return the completed Mandatory Forbearance Request form to BND.
